Skittle Rainbow Experiment

Hello Lads and Lassies! It’s a crazy time in our outside world and I’m bringing out all the experiments and fun things to do to keep us focused and busy!

Today, I wanted to share with you our skittles experiment that we had so much fun doing! I also added a few more items to check out at the end of the page.

All you need is:

  • White plate
  • Skittles
  • Warm water

First, start by arranging the skittles around the plate in a rainbow pattern. Like this:

Next, eat the left overs!!

Pour the warm water till it reaches half up the side of each skittle.

What’s happening? It’s magic! And oh so pretty.

I reminded my son about how lucky we are and that each time we see a rainbow we can be reminded of God’s promise for us and about Noah seeing the rainbow for the first time. We’re so lucky!!

Go a little further: We added more water to make a tie-dye effect. Then, we flipped each skittle over to see what would happen.

A few more fun things to do about St. Patrick’s Day:

There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Clover!
Patrick: Patron Saint of Ireland
This is Ireland
St. Patrick’s Day Shillelagh
Green Shamrocks
S is for Shamrock
